Sharing large pieces of information across the company, including our repeatable documented processes, is crucial to our workflow. We try to use tools as much as possible to automate processes that can help us save time and increase our productivity. We also need to enable our workforce to be available at anytime, anywhere, even when disaster strikes. Given the caliber of clients we work with, some even handling top-secret information, network security is of the utmost importance to us and our customers. We've also learned that we cannot rely completely on having your information. For example, if corporate network is down, say in the event of a disaster, employees need to be able to have information somehow locally. If they had a laptop, they would have that ability.
We’ve implemented a workflow information-sharing collaboration tool internally that we use at corporate headquarters and will eventually extend to our employees that are offsite as well as to our clients. We use a tool to help share information across the company including our repeatable documented processes. We’ll be using it in the future to provide our clients with visibility to our deliverables, for status reporting, and for them to look at the status of in-process deliverables during their contract. All of our employees are outfitted with laptops that are synced to the server. If the network is ever down, at the very least, all of their offline email stored and there is the ability to use a personal email if our servers all went down and we weren’t able to restore them immediately. Meanwhile, Dell's PowerEdge 2950 servers provide us the flexibility to consolidate servers and save on space and additional resources like power while providing the power provide highly reliable service to customers. Our Dell Latitude laptops are lightweight and have the processing power to handle our mobile computing needs while also providing a comfortable desktop computing environment in the office. TrendNet 24 Port Gigabit Switches provide us with the internal LAN speed to move data rapidly within our LAN while the low cost allowed us to do this at a reasonable price.
